Climate: With three-hundred sunny days a year, the Tahoe, Truckee and Reno area still offers four distinct seasons with few extremes. Average temperatures range from winter lows in the 20's to summer highs in the 90's. Low humidity characterizes the area, making the cool days seem not so cold, and the warm days not so hot, providing warm days, cool nights and blue skies. Rain and cloudy days are scarce, with fewer than eight inches on average annually. More than half of the annual precipitation in Reno falls from December to March. Snow, however, is certain with an average of 23.5 inches per year, though it tends to melt by late afternoon in the valleys. Fog is rare and usually confined to the early morning hours of midwinter.
